ANTIQUE AMERICAN CHESTNUT
Castanea dentata
This rare species is only available from the reclamation process. Once the most plentiful hardwood in eastern forests, nearly all American chestnuts were wiped out by a blight that began in the early 20th century. Chestnut's warm brown tones and interesting grain patterns give it a gentle, rustic charm.

This light, warm-colored and rare wood is for customers who desire a truly special floor. Rare since a blight epidemic which began in the early 20th century, this wood has been reclaimed from barns and houses throughout the Appalachian Mountains, from Maine to Georgia. Our Antique American Chestnut can sometimes include occasional knots, nail holes and worm holes that all add to the fascinating character of the wood.
