Northern Cascades Flume
Reclaimed Old Growth Douglas Fir & Larch
One hundred years of extreme conditions have produced a weathered, sandblown, gray patina on these old-growth, Douglas Fir and Larch timbers and planks.
During a century of extreme weather at the base of the Northern Cascades, near the Canadian border, this flume brought water to the local farmers and orchards. Too old to carry water, it became a fire hazard. Woodbank partnered with local wood recyclers to deconstruct the flume and remove it from the state immediately, to eliminate risk to neighboring properties.
This old-growth material is best used as is, or sawn and milled to create exquisite flooring and millwork. Dried and seasoned naturally to 6.5% relative moisture content material, it reflects ten to thirty growth rings per inch, and is available in random sizes.
